After years of serving companies both large and small throughout numerous industries, I realized that the small businesses that make up the backbone of our economy were not readily able to get their hands on the information and resources they needed in order to have a sound HR infrastructure.

Why?  Cost, for one thing.  Also, not knowing what they should be worried about from an HR/compliance perspective.  And, finally, not knowing where to turn to get the information.

I founded Cole James Associates with one goal in mind:  to ensure small businesses have access to the same information and resources that large companies have without the burden of excessive cost.  Even companies with just one employee have legal requirements concerning that employee and can easily fall prey to today's litigious environment.  At Cole James, no company is too small for us to help.

You went into business to pursue your passion, not deal with HR issues.  I also went into business to pursue my passion, and that happens to be dealing with HR issues.  When you team with me, you will work with someone who is a native Virginian, who knows the local market, but has also worked with large, international companies.  I am proud to be an entrepreneur who can bring fellow entrepreneurs the HR information and resources ALL businesses need, regardless of size.

About Charlotte Jensen

Charlotte has been in the Human Resources field for 15 years.  About half of that time was spent overseeing HR for 500 employees across five states in a division of a large, publicly held international company.  The other half of these years has been spent working with small, private employers across numerous industries, each averaging approximately 50 employees or less.

Charlotte holds a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Education (Teaching) from Virginia Commonwealth University.                                                                                                                               

Born and raised in Richmond, Charlotte and her husband, who was also her high school sweetheart, remain in the area.  Their lives are fulfilled by their son, and their warm, but full home is rounded out by their Golden Retrievers and cats.
